Sustainable business models

Sustainable business models

In the context of the NWO – Groene Zaak program ‘Sustainable Business Models’, the PrC together with several co-applicants (Erasmus University, Hanzehogeschool Groningen, Utrecht University, Delft University of Technology, and the University of Amsterdam) execute an action research project called: ‘Managing the transition to sustainable business models: the role of leadership and measuring shared value creation’.

The main aim of the research project has been to consider the transition process that enhances organisations – either as implementers themselves or as advisors – to create shared value. The objective is to identify strategic solutions that allow firms to capture economic value whilst generating environmental and societal value. In practice, the project is realizing a framework and assessment to evaluate the current value constellation of organizations. This framework provides business with relevant insights in their position, patterns, vision and ambitions regarding sustainable value creation relative to their environment and competition, and gives future direction by showing medium and long-term objectives. Given its early stage, this framework is subject to further research and iterations both in theory and practice. This is planned for the 2018-2019 period.
