PROPHETS' kick-off

This summer the Preventing Radicalisation Online through the Proliferation of Harmonised ToolkitS (PROPHETS) project was officially kicked off with a meeting. The event took place at the Bavarian Police Academy in Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany, in June, and was attended by 26 researchers and law enforcement professionals, representing 14 consortium-members from 10 different EU member states.

In the meeting, which also served as way of getting to know each other, the different Work Projects were presented and discussed and common objectives and procedures were agreed upon. One of the objectives arising out of the meeting was to have a website up and running as fast as possible, which was achieved a few days later.

On behalf of CESAM, Saskia Bayerl and Giorgio Touburg attended the event. For PROPHETS – a project that seeks to investigate and mitigate online radicalisation – CESAM will be mostly involved with the development of use cases and research methodology.

The next consortium meeting will be in December of this year in Tallinn, Estonia.

The Centre of Excellence in Public Safety Management (CESAM) aims to promote and foster the professional development and management of public safety organisations, on an international level. It targets a clear and direct impact of academic research on public and private sector organisations in the field of public safety.
