Corien Wortmann-Kool has been chairman of the board of ABP Pensionfund since 2015. ABP is the pension fund for the Dutch public sector with 2,8 million participants, and € 380 billion assets under management. The board of trustees of ABP decided in 2016 that the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals will become an important guidance for ABP’s sustainable investments. The company wants make considerable investments in activities that help to solve societal and environmental problems.
Corien Wortmann-Kool was a member of the European Parliament until 2014. Before 2004, Corien was director at the Dutch Ministry of Transport. She holds a master degree in political science and economics from VU University in Amsterdam. Corien is also vice-chairman of the supervisory board of Aegon N.V., member of the supervisory board of Kadaster, member of the advisory committee of Statistics Netherlands, chairman of the board of trustees of Save the Children, and vice-president of the European Peoples Party (EPP).
