Partnership KLM and SkyNRG

KLM is convinced that the use of sustainable biofuels is the key to the future of air transport. It is presently the most effective way to reduce impact on the environment, which is essential because they want to keep bringing passengers to their destination. KLM is therefore structurally investing in the development of sustainable biofuel. To make sure that they will receive the sustainable biofuel, KLM has formed a partnership with SkyNRG, which includes representatives of the World Wide Fund for Nature, the Copernicus Institute of the University of Utrecht, and Solidaridad, among others. SkyNRG develops and sells sustainable jet fuel for the global aviation market.

Working towards an optimal flight means working towards further reducing our ecological footprint, in the air as well as on the ground. We aim to have reduced our CO2 emissions by 20% in 2020, compared to 2009 levels. In addition to using sustainable biofuels, the improvement of fleet performance, flight operations and infrastructure are key factors in achieving this ambition.
