Admissions & COVID-19

  • As a result of the worldwide impact of the Coronavirus, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), has decided to temporarily alter the admission criteria for the MSc and Premaster programmes, for applicants who (will) have obtained their bachelor’s degree between February and August 2020 and want to start at RSM in September.

    This leniency only applies to the academic year 2020/2021 and does not apply to applicants who earned their degrees prior to February 2020 as their bachelor results were not negatively affected by the pandemic.

    Please find the guidelines for your situation below:

    • The deadlines for the English and GMAT tests will be extended, but you must meet the GPA requirement at the time of application as your bachelor results were not negatively affected by the pandemic:

      • If you obtained a bachelor degree at a Dutch Research University (WO) before February 2020, you must have an unrounded minimum grade point average (GPA) of 7.0.
      • If you obtained a bachelor degree at a Dutch Applied Sciences university (HBO) before February 2020, you must have an unrounded minimum grade point avarege (GPA) of 7.5.

      Before submitting you application, make sure you meet our minimum admissions requirements and submit your application on time. 

    • You may start your MSc at RSM if by the 31st of August 2020:

      • You have obtained a minimum of 162 EC within your bachelor programme.
      • You have a minimum GPA of 6.8 (normally this is 7.0)
      • You have submitted your application on time and meet the general admissions requirements for the programme you're applying for (English & Relevant bachelor content)
      • You have successfully finished all Bachelor year 1 courses 
      • You have successfully completed your bachelor thesis trajectory

      You must complete your bachelor’s degree no later than 31 August 2021. You cannot be awarded a master’s degree from RSM until you have completed your bachelor’s degree.

      Before submitting you application, make sure you meet our minimum admissions requirements and submit your application on time. 

      I have already submitted my application and I meet the above mentioned requirements. What now?

      RSM Admissions Office will check the status of the current applicants regularly. However during the peak period of the admissions season (May - June), it may take while before we have evaluated application and can send you the offer of admission.

    • You may start your MSc at RSM if you have passed all pre-master courses, except the MSc specific bachelor course, by the 31st of August 2020.

      You cannot be awarded a master's degree from RSM as long you haven’t successfully passed the MSc specific pre-master bachelor course.

    • You may start your MSc at RSM if by the 31st of August 2020:

      • You have obtained a minimum of 162 EC within your BSc
      • You have a minimum GPA of 6.8 (this is normally 7.0)
      • You have submitted your application on time and meet the general admissions requirements for the programme you're applying for (English & Relevant bachelor content)
      • You have successfully completed all Bachelor year 1 courses
      • You have successfully completed your bachelor thesis trajectory (if part of the curriculum)

      You must submit proof of completion of your bachelor’s degree to the RSM admissions office no later than 31 August 2021. You cannot be awarded a master’s degree from RSM until you have completed your bachelor’s degree.

      Before submitting you application, make sure you meet our minimum admissions requirements and submit your application on time. 

      I have already submitted my application and I meet the above mentioned requirements. What now?

      • If you expect to obtain your diploma on time, you can follow the regular instructions on how to make your offer unconditional, as listed in the offer message which you'll receive via the Online Application Form (OLAF).
      • If your diploma will be delayed, but you meet the EC & GPA requirement by the 31st of August, please provide RSM with a certified hardcopy of your transcript (grade list) and send them to the RSM Admissions Office
    • You may start a premaster programme at RSM if by the 31st of August 2020:

      • You have obtained a minimum of 222 EC within your bachelor
      • You have a minimum GPA of 7.3 (this normally 7.5)

      You must submit proof of completion of your bachelor’s degree to the RSM admissions office no later than 31 August 2021. You cannot be awarded a master’s degree from RSM until you have completed your bachelor’s degree.

      Before submitting you application, make sure you meet our minimum admissions requirements and submit your application on time. 

      I have already submitted my application and I meet the above mentioned requirements. What now?

    • A Bachelor’s degree is a requirement for admission to our MSc programmes. In case the formal degree cannot be shown before 31 August 2020, you need to provide proof that you will obtain this degree before 31 December 2020 based on an official endorsement letter of your home university.

      You cannot be awarded a master's degree from RSM as long as you haven’t obtained a bachelor’s degree.

      Before submitting you application, make sure you meet our minimum admissions requirements and submit your application on time. 

  • The application deadline for the majority of the MSc programmes remains the 15th of May. Only the application deadline for the Part-Time MScBA Master in Management programme has been extended until the 15th of June. 

    Before submitting you application, make sure you meet our minimum admissions requirements and submit your application on time. 

    The following programmes have reached full capacity and have, therefore, closed for application for the academic year 2020-2021:

    • MSc Business Analytics & Management
    • MSc Busines Information Management 
    • MSc Finance & Investments
    • Premaster International Business Administration (English-language)
    • MScBA Master in Management

    Additionally, the application deadline for the MSc International Management/CEMS programme has already passed.

     

  • If you plan to apply for a master’s programme at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), you now have more time to take your English test and/or your GMAT test.

    The following online testing options are currently available:

    Note: the online IELTS Indicator is not accepted. 

    For applicants with a EU/EEA nationality

    • Submit your application, with or without your English or GMAT test result, by Friday, 15 May 2020
    • Submit your English and/or GMAT test results before Friday, 31 July 2020.

     

    For non-EEA applicants

    • Submit your application, with or without your English or GMAT test result, by Friday 15 May 2020.
    • Non-EEA students will get an extension to submit their English or GMAT test result until 31 May. Unfortunately, we can’t extend the deadline further than that as the Dutch government requires us to start the VISA process for all non-EEA students in June.
    • You should submit your English and/or GMAT test result by Sunday, 31 May 2020

     

    For applicants from from Mainland China:

    • Submit your application, with or without your English or GMAT test result, by Friday 15 May 2020.
    • Submit your English test and/or GMAT test results by Thursday 30 June.
  • While we expect you to do your utmost best to travel to the Netherlands to start your studies in September, we understand that some countries may still be dealing with travel restrictions at this time.

    Therefore RSM decided to guarantee all enrolled master students that they can acquire all their Block 1 and Block 2 credits from home (online, from September onward until the Christmas break).

    If you are able to travel to Rotterdam you are still invited to do so, which enables you to connect with (some of) your classmates offline and explore the city.
