The CSSI conference brings together researchers and practitioners to better understand how business, government, and civil society interact to address social problems. The PrC, a specialist research centre at RSM, collects and shares information about selecting appropriate partnerships and increasing their efficiency, impact and effectiveness.
CSSI 2016 takes place in Toronto, Canada between 17-20 April, and will address how cross-sector partnerships can lead to deeper systemic change in solving societal problems.
UN Goals
RSM Professor Rob van Tulder will take part in presenting two sessions, and will also present a lifetime achievement award to a renowned expert in the field.
His first session is as a co-presenter of a workshop to introduce the Promoting Effective Partnerships initiative, presently under construction, to pool resources of the scholarly and practitioner communities around the UN’s Global Goals for sustainable development (SDGs). One of the goals (#17) is specifically about partnerships. The audience will be encouraged to share knowledge and co-create this facility.
Wicked problems
Later that day, van Tulder’s workshop on RSM’s Wicked Problems Plaza will introduce participants to an innovative technique and intellectual concept developed by the professor himself. The Plaza is located in The Hague, and is a think tank for dialogues between companies, researchers, professionals and investors to promote effective collaboration for solving dilemmas. His co-presenters are PrC researcher Rianne van Asperen and RSM Assistant Professor Salla Laasonen.
RSM researcher Dr Greetje Schouten will present two papers with her co-authors; one on multi‐stakeholder initiatives and the challenge of wicked problems, and another on tensions in global multi‐stakeholder partnerships and how they can lead to the formation of local competing organisations.
