Join us for the first Brownbag seminar of 2026 which covers the topic of developing teaching cases that facilitate in-depth learning in a short period of time.

Today’s business environment is increasingly unpredictable, with unexpected events frequently disrupting “business as usual.” The ability to navigate uncertainty and adapt strategy to balance short-term constraints with long-term goals has become an essential skill for students. However, students do not always fully engage with lengthy case descriptions or absorb the nuances required to understand rich contexts. How can we develop short, current, and engaging cases that still achieve desired learning outcomes

In this session, Dr. Patricia Klopf and Dr. Isidora Sidorovska from the will share their experiences in developing “snap cases”. They will provide a guide on how to keep cases short and how to use them as an effective learning tool. The seminar will last one hour, featuring a 30-40 minute presentation followed by 20-30 minutes of discussion.

Programme

The seminar will cover:

  • How to develop cases that are concise and compelling
  • Key features of a ‘snap case’
  • When and how to implement this in both Bachelor’s and Master’s classrooms
  • Approaches to assessing student work
  • Challenges or pitfalls in shorter cases and how to address them
  • Potential uses of student cases
