The new academic year will officially start in the week of 1 September (the IM/CEMS programme will start in mid-August). Before the start of the academic year there will be introduction activities (usually in the last week of August). Programme management will inform you about these during the summer and you can find detailed information on the RSM Welcome pages

You can have your official diplomas and transcripts translated at the institution where you obtained your diploma, at your embassy, or at an official translation agency. Please note that you must send a copy of the original document along with the translation.

Yes, you can apply for admission before your bachelor programme has been completed. Students who meet the admission requirements and/or selection criteria will be given a conditional offer of admission. One of the conditions in your offer of admission will be the completion of your bachelor programme.

About 4-6 months before the start of your internship is recommended to start searching. For the bachelor 3rd year, we advice to start around February/March. 

If you are a foreign student (non-EEA) and you have a valid residence permit with the aim to study, you can work alongside your studies. This can be either full-time seasonal work in June, July and August, or part-time work( no more than 16 hours a week outside the summer period).

Your Dutch employer needs to apply for a work permit for you.

As a student you must have a J-1 visa to do an internship in the USA. It is a temporary visa, which is not a pathway to other visas. It is also suitable for graduates within 12 months after graduation. A J-1 visa is a protection for students during their internship.  

Application procedure

Step 1  You have to have an internship and host employer. This is something you need to take care of yourself. A sponsor* might be able to help you though. The internship should last between 3 weeks and 12 months.

Requirements for the internship are

-         There must skilled personnel to train you

-         A clear assignment

-         If it is a company with <25 employees or which earns less than $3 million in annual revenue, the sponsor will do a site visit

-         The assignment should not replace US workers

-         The company should have a workers Compensation Insurance (you need to take care of a health insurance yourself)

-         An internship should be at entry level but professional (no receptionist work)

Ways to find an internship could be via Career Services, your own network or a sponsor like InterExchange

Step 2  You have to have sufficient financial resources for your time in the USA

Step 3  You have to find yourself a sponsor who can issue the Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) status (Form DS-2019).

The best time is from September - December (block 9 & 10). It has to be 15 weeks fulltime, for 20 EC.  Total block 9,10 & 11 = 30 EC, so don't forget to get te last 10 EC.

The institutional code of RSM is 0798 and for Erasmus University 7199 (you can use either). TOEFL exam results can be verified by the admissions office online if you have given Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University permission to access your score. Please do so!

The dress code for the Friday programme is business or business casual, whereas Saturday's programme is less formal and you may where something more casual. Whatever you do, pick something that you like and wear it with a smile!

In order to remove your birthday from the Intranet birthday list, please follow these steps:

• Search for your last name in the 'People Search' box (below the right menu bar).
• Click your name in the search result that comes up.
• Go to the bottom of the page and click 'Edit these details'.
• Untick the 'Show Birthday' box.
• Click on the 'Save' button in the top left corner of your personal details.

Please note that student assistants and third-party employees are not eligible for RSM employee smartphones.

You can declare your business travel costs or get your expenses reimbursed via the financial declarations forms in the Financial section of the intranet.

Please note that RSM EUR (based in T-building and L-building) and RSM BV (based in J-building) use different forms .

If you wish to update your department page on the Intranet, please send your change requests by e-mail to Webservices. You will be notified when the changes are live.

Banners can only be placed on the Intranet by the Webservices team.

All banners must be checked and approved for compliance with RSM standards by RSM Press and PR Manager Marianne Schouten. Please contact Marianne before creating your banner.  

Once Marianne has approved your general request for a banner, please deliver it to  Webservices as follows:

• a single JPG or PNG image file, format 250x132 pixels
• the URL of the page where the banner should point to.

Please note that the only position available for banners on the Intranet is in the left column of the homepage. It is not possible to put banners in the header, the central column, or the right column. Animated banners cannot be hosted on the Intranet.

To update your profile page on the Intranet, please follow these steps:

• Search for your last name in the 'People Search' box (below the menu bar on the right hand side).
• Click on your name in the search result.
• Go to the bottom of the page and click 'Edit these details'.
• Edit the fields which need changing. You can update your photo, your first  name, last name, initials, responsibilities, your social media connections, and your contact information. You can also choose whether or not to display your birthday on the Intranet birthday list.
• Click the 'Save' button in the top left corner of the personal details page.
• Click 'Back' in the top left corner above your personal details to review the changes made and to test the links you inserted.

If you need to edit your department, can't find the proper job title in the list, or need further assistance, please contact Webservices and we can fix this for you.

You can apply for IT hardware or software in the IT section of the Intranet; click on Request and Reservation Forms.

Please note:

• Student assistants cannot make requests for hardware or software
• You must give a budget number and the name of the budget holder for applications for hardware or software. Your secretary knows your department's budget number.
