Mathematics requirement:

For applicants in the final year of secondary school:

• You must be taking the required mathematics course in both the Première and the Terminale.
• In Première, you must have taken Spécialité mathématiques (4 hours per week). The 1.5-hour enseignement de mathématiques spécifique (integrated into Enseignement scientifique) is insufficient, even if you take Mathématiques complémentaires in Terminale.
• If you take Spécialité Mathématiques in Terminale, you need a minimum mathematics grade of 13 in Première
• If you take Mathématiques Complémentaires in Terminale, you need a minimum mathematics grade of 14 in Première
• If you do not meet the minimum grade or level requirements listed above, you must take a mathematics proficiency exam.
• The RSM diploma statement must clearly show which mathematics course you are taking in your final year (Terminale). If this is not clear, you will be required to take a mathematics exam.

How RSM calculates your mathematics average

RSM will calculate your mathematics average using the mathematics grades shown on your semester or trimester report cards from Première. The result of the national mathematics examination taken at the end of Première will not be included in this calculation.

For applicants who have graduated:

• You must have taken the required mathematics course mathematics in both the Première and the Terminale.
• In Première, you must have taken Spécialité mathématiques (4 hours per week). The 1.5-hour enseignement de mathématiques spécifique (integrated into Enseignement scientifique) not sufficient, even if you have taken  Mathématiques complémentaires in Terminale.
• Only your mathematics grade achieved in the final exam (as shown on the Relevé de notes) will be considered. The required grades are:
  • Spécialité Mathématiques with a minimum grade 13
  • Mathématiques Complémentaires in Terminale a minimum grade of 14, obtained in Terminale
• If you do not meet the minimum grade or level requirements listed above, you must take a mathematics proficiency exam.

English language requirement

• For the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI) (formerly Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB)), only the bilingual American or British language sections are accepted, with a minimum grade of 14 in the English component and a statement from your school as proof of your English language competence. Other sections, including the Trilingue BFI option, are not accepted for exemption.
• If you do not meet requirements listed above, you must take an English language test.

Selection points

• You will be granted selection points if you have a Grade Average of 15 or higher.
• If your grades are below this, you will not earn selection points for your final ranking.

For applicants in the final year of high school:

• Your Grade Average will be calculated based on all semesters or trimesters completed during your penultimate year (the year before your final year).

  The following rules apply:

• If your transcript states an official overall average (Moyenne générale) for a semester or trimester, RSM will use that officially reported average. RSM will not recalculate it from the individual subject grades.
• If no official overall average is stated for a semester or trimester, RSM will calculate the average based on the grades shown on your transcript.
• A different average will only be considered if your school provides formal written documentation explaining why the officially reported average should not be used and confirming the alternative official average that should apply. Requests or alternative calculations provided by the applicant will not be accepted.

For graduated applicants:

• Your Grade Average (Moyenne Finale) which is mentioned on your Relevé des notes

Additional requirements

• You must include the RSM diploma statement in your application. This statement must be filled in by your school counselor or school representative. If you have already graduated at the time of applying, the statement is not required.
• The RSM diploma statement must clearly indicate which mathematics course you are taking in the final year (Terminale). Note: The 1.5-hour enseignement de mathématiques spécifique (integrated into Enseignement scientifique) is not sufficient, even if you take Mathématiques complémentaires in Terminale. If the mathematics course is not (clearly) indicated, RSM will assume that the applicant does not have the required course/level and a mathematics exam is required.
• Always provide the original bulletins with the French grading system. RSM will not use converted grades (e.g. letter grading) for the evaluation.
• Applicants who obtain the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI) or, prior to 2024, the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB) in the American or British language sections must also provide an official statement from their school confirming their English proficiency.
• In the application, you must submit official grade lists signed by your mentor or school representative. Screenshots or self-made Word/Excel documents with your grades will not be accepted. Ensure that RSM can clearly understand how the grades were determined if your school uses a different grading system or calculations.
