Students look for internships and jobs, and companies look for new talent to hire. They can connect at the STAR Management Week, from 27 October until 12 November 2021. The two-week event includes more than 80 activities, with more than 50 speakers and 70 companies. The annual STAR Management Week is the biggest off-campus business recruitment and orientation event organised by students of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), who are active members of study association STAR.

This year’s theme is ‘shape your ambition’. Every student, at every stage in their academic career is looking for their next step in shaping their ambition. The STAR Management Week gives students the opportunity to talk to and discuss trending business topics with inspiring guests. The two-week event aims to help students to find in which industry their interests lie, an internship during their bachelor or master programme, a traineeship, or a first full-time job. The wide variety of activities cover three pillars: career, academic, and social.

The career activities aim to help students discover different fields of business, explore job application tips, and connect with recruiters. Academic activities have two purposes: academic development and skills needed to succeed in the business world. This includes inspirational activities with CEOs, founders, and directors of reputable businesses. The social activities connect students to fellow students at unique locations in Rotterdam, which is much needed after a year and a half of online meetings only.

Post-Covid recruitment trends

After a year of online recruitment, companies and HR recruiters are also looking forward to seeing new hires and students face to face again. The pandemic has called for the flexibility of both employers and employees, as more and more took place in a remote setting. The travel and leisure industry have taken a hit while AI and software firms have flourished, creating a change in employee demand. This is one of the things students will discover at the career event.
