Navigating the Platform Business Model – SMS extension event
This high-profile SMS extension event has been co-organised by academics of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) as part of this years' Strategic Management Society (SMS) conference. The one-day event will take place on Friday 21 September 2018 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, just before the four-day SMS conference which is set to run between 22 and 25 September in Paris, France.
This one-day event aims to bring together academics from Harvard, Stanford, RSM, New York University and executive board-level domain experts from technology-intensive organisations from various industries such as Ericsson, Royal Phillips, Royal FloraHolland, and the Dutch ministry of transportation, which have a common interest in platform ecosystems and the strategies involved with successfully operating the platform business model. Participants will share their ideas, challenges and best practices imposed by the continuously evolving nature of digital platforms.
Exposing practitioners to the latest academic research in the field of strategy and engaging academics in discussions that will culminate into a joint research agenda, the event consists of keynotes by distinguished speakers, panel discussions, and a number of interactive case presentations by leading platform firms. Results will be synthesised and presented as takeaways by the end of the event.
