RSM - A force for positive change

The world is facing big societal, economic, and ecological challenges, and we believe business is a powerful instrument for solving them. We aim to improve the practice of business and management through our ground-breaking research, our world-class education, and our engagement with industry and society.

Our mission statement is therefore:

Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University is a force for positive change in the world.

We help, educate and prepare students, academics and people in business to become critical, creative, caring and collaborative thinkers and doers.

We do this in our own operations – in research, education and engagement – and in our role as a thought leader in the worlds of business, research and education.

  • We have researched intelligent energy networks to bring sustainable energy a step closer;
  • We have initiated a goal-setting course that increases the engagement of our bachelor students;
  • We have established a mentoring scheme that seeks the best match for mentors and mentees among our alumni network and our students;
  • It’s already in our culture to consider how to make the change happen; it's in our forward thinking I WILL initiative.

RSM's values

Critical

We enable thinkers and doers – through research, education and engagement –  to challenge the status quo and develop new knowledge, understanding and practice for positive change.

Creative

We stimulate individuals and organisations to lead with ambition, curiosity and courage to create innovative ways of thinking and acting to advance society and business.

Caring

We make sure that individuals and organisations care: about others, their environment and themselves. Central to our approach is I WILL: RSM's forward-thinking initiative – saying I WILL – to the resilient future we want to build.

Collaborative

We encourage individuals and organisations to join forces to advance their mutual interest. Leadership on the basis of teamwork is the way to tackle small and large challenges and opportunities locally and globally.

We have therefore adopted as a reference framework the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals
