French finance multinational aims to recruit RSM students
More than 50 master students from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) who are interested in an international banking and finance career joined a career event on campus in November 2017. Société Générale S.A. had come to RSM for the eighth consecutive year to recruit talented student for their fast career track graduate programme.
Société Générale is a French multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in Paris. They were specifically aiming to recruit students for the General Inspection Graduate Programme. The General Inspection is a team of 140 people based in Paris, who work on international audit and consulting assignments throughout the world. This team reports directly to the top management of the Société Générale Group.
Demanding career path
The session, which was organised by the RSM Career Centre and attended by more than 50 students, was led by Société Générale’s international campus manager Alexis Planque and senior inspector Thomas Beauchamp.
“During the presentation I discovered the wide scope of the group’s banking activities and geographic scope. This programme provides a very interesting and demanding career path for graduating students,” said Dutch student Martijn de Wit (MSc Strategic Management).
“I found this session insightful and very informative,” said Helena Ferreira, a Spanish student in RSM’s MSc Strategic Management programme. “Getting a first-hand perspective of how the challenging selection process of SG works will help us understand how to perform better when applying,” she said.
Each year, this team recruits between 30 and 40 top graduates to join their staff. The role suits students and graduates who wish to combine an expertise in auditing, strategic consulting, and finance.
“It’s always a pleasure to present our General Inspection programmes to RSM students because they completely fit with what we are looking for in terms of tier one education, but also curiosity, team players, humility, adaptability and relevant questions,” said Société Générale’s international campus manager Alexis Planque, adding the team hopes to see a lot of the RSM students at SG’s assessment centre in February.
RSM students are highly in demand among companies worldwide. Almost 80 per cent of respondents of the MSc Employment Report 2017 found a job within three months of starting their search, and 41 per cent secured the first step on the career ladder before graduation.
