Professor Flore Bridoux
Professor Flore Bridoux

Flore Bridoux has been appointed professor of stakeholder management in the department of Business-Society Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). She studies how to manage and organise stakeholder-firm relationships in order to motivate stakeholders to create value for firms – as teams of stakeholders – and for society. She is also interested in stakeholders’ reactions to the trade-offs that firms make among the interests of different stakeholder groups, and in the dynamics that characterise firms-stakeholders interactions.

With her research, Prof. Bridoux contributes to developing the stakeholder narrative of capitalism, a much needed alternative to the standard narrative of shareholder primacy and fierce competition, which has demonstrated its limits in the form of increasing inequalities and the destruction of our planet.

Fostering prosperity

In her new role, Prof. Bridoux aims to focus on how business can foster prosperity. She will do so by adding a new stream of research to her current one. This new stream will be about how managers deal with trade-offs among stakeholder interests. Prof. Bridoux will also teach stakeholder management in various programmes.

“Returning to RSM feels both familiar and exciting,” says Bridoux. “Familiar because I can reconnect with colleagues with whom I worked in the past, and exciting because of the many opportunities RSM offers to researchers.”

Prof. Flore Bridoux

Professor Bridoux holds a PhD from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. She worked as an assistant professor at RSM in the department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship from 2007 to 2009 before joining the International Strategy and Marketing section at the University of Amsterdam. Her work has been published in the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, and Strategic Management Journal, among others. She is an associate editor for Organization & Environment.
