With any growing network comes a greater sum of knowledge and greater influence. The alumni network of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) currently numbers around 30,000 professionals working all over the world. The school’s alumni office is a cornerstone of alumni network activities and publishes a magazine twice a year. This winter, readers – and non-readers – are asked for their opinions of the magazine in an online survey. It can be found at www.rsm.nl/outlooksurvey and will take about 10 minutes to complete.

The twice-yearly RSM Outlook magazine is  a way for RSM alumni to continue to access professional and social networking, as well as education, information and learning from the school even after graduating and long after leaving Rotterdam. Print versions are mailed to every alumnus after their graduation; some opt to read it online.

The magazine is not only aimed at the alumni network – it also communicates between RSM and its international corporate relations, and other business professionals. Features and articles include developments and research in the latest management topics, interviews with alumni and corporate relations as well as current developments and activities at RSM in general.

“The online survey has been created to find out what interests and inspires our readers,” says Joep Elemans, director of RSM’s Corporate, Career and Alumni Relations.

“RSM’s alumni team and the magazine editorial team want to make sure they serve up relevant and valuable articles for RSM Outlook’s readership, which now numbers at least 30,000 people. For example, is it important to see news about other alumni, the outcomes of research, current students, faculty and programmes? Is the printed paper magazine the best way to do that?”

The survey presents an opportunity for readers to tell the editorial board what type of articles they would like; more about senior alumni or faculty research, or more personal stories and executive interviews? Is news of new courses and information about executive education useful? There’s also space for ideas and suggestions for features that have not yet been covered.

The survey will close on 31 January 2016, when the results will be analysed. Four respondents’ names will be drawn out of the hat early February to win an item of their choice from the RSM Store webshop (www.store.rsm.nl), and one respondent’s name will win a free seat on one of RSM’s Executive Education Open Programmes.

‘We really appreciate respondents taking the time to complete the survey,’ said Joep. ‘The more responses we get, the better the magazine can become.’
