International business leaders, leading academics and world-class thinkers from a wide range of industry sectors – including power producers, equities, transport and trade associations – will gather in Rotterdam on 18 and 19 May for the fifth Erasmus Energy Forum, hosted by the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). They will discuss digital innovation as a key enabler for energy transition to redefine the energy landscape. Participants receive an early bird discount if they register before Friday 1 April.

Digitisation and digital innovation takes place in every industry. Combined with the political focus on an efficient and competitive, low-carbon economy, it requires a complete re-invention of the energy industry. This year’s Erasmus Energy Forum, organised by RSM in partnership with Port of Rotterdam and Euroforum/Smart Circle, will focus on reinventing the energy landscape and digital innovation. The Forum’s Business Day is on Wednesday 18 May at World Trade Center Rotterdam, and Science Day on Thursday 19 May on Erasmus University’s campus.

Business Day

Business Day brings together leading energy practitioners, policy makers, entrepreneurs and researchers who will explore various topics such as public-private innovation partnerships, big data and new business models in the energy market, digital entrepreneurship and disruption, and the German energy market. Speakers include Medy van der Laan, chairman of Energie-Nederland; Bertrand van Ee, chairman Climate-KIC; Marc Bras, manager BMWi at BMW Group Nederland; Peter Vermaat, CEO of Enexis; Jacob de Haan, head of research at De Nederlandsche Bank; Igor Kluin, founder of Qurrent and Monyq; David Peters, director of strategy at Stedin; Jochen Schwill, CEO at Next Kraftwerke; and trendwatcher Richard van Hooijdonk.

During breakout sessions, participants can attend inspiring workshops and round table discussions about one of three business areas: energy port and industry, electric mobility, and urban energy. Andreas Kuhlmann, president of German energy agency Dena, will be the evening speaker at the networking dinner.

Science Day

On Science Day, which takes place on Thursday 19 May on RSM’s campus, participants will attend academic presentations. Researchers will be engaged in discussions about digital innovation in the energy business. Academics can submit research papers that examine the future of energy business, and in particular, how energy informatics can foster energy efficiency and enable the transition to a sustainable energy landscape.

Erasmus Energy Award

Each year, RSM recognises the best ideas, concepts and business models that contribute to improving people’s lives, business success, and the planet, because once again the Erasmus Energy Business Award is open for entries. The winner will pitch its concept to the whole audience of leading thinkers, managers and politicians involved in the future business of energy on Business Day on 18 May. The Erasmus Energy Science Award will be presented on Science Day.

Erasmus Energy Forum

Since 2012, the Erasmus Energy Forum is organised by the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business. The event brings together representatives from a wide range of industries, academia and politics, in front of large and increasingly influential audience. Previous Erasmus Energy Forum events have been recognised for successfully bridging business, science and policy, and offering a unique environment for exchanging information, as well as valuable networking opportunities.

Participants can buy a ticket for Business Day or for Science Day, or will receive a reduced rate for a combination ticket. An early-bird discount for the Erasmus Energy Forum 2016 is available for registrations until Friday 1 April 2016.
