RSM Funding Award

RSM Funding Award
This award shows appreciation for RSM researchers who invest in time-consuming, complex and competitive funding applications that have resulted in a substantial grant.

Who can be nominated?

Any RSM faculty member who in the academic year 2024/2025 has either won:

  1. A prestigious personal grant (e.g., ERC, NWO Veni/Vidi/Vici);
  2. A H2020 Grand Societal Challenge grant with an impressive European consortium;
  3. Several grants in one year; OR
  4. A unique large grant for a research or educational project after months of negotiation and networking.

Who can nominate candidates for the award?

RSM Funding Team nominates candidates.

How many candidates can be nominated?

The funding team can nominate individuals or a team.

Who will assess the nominations?

The jury consists of three external members (funding coordinators from EUR) who will propose a winner.

What are the criteria for assessing the nominations?

The jury will consider all of the following criteria:

  • Prestige and volume of the grant
  • Exceptionality of the grant for RSM
  • Potential for positive impact of the grant on business, people, the environment or the school
  • Diversity of the network involved in the research project (regions, types of organisations, interdisciplinarity)

What is the prize?

A certificate of achievement will be awarded and can be uploaded to the winner’s social media.

When will the winner be announced?

The winner will be announced during the RSM Town Hall meeting on 16 December 2025.

RSM Innovative Teaching Award

What is the objective of the award?

Showing appreciation for RSM educators who employ exceptionally innovative content or teaching methods in class.

Who can be nominated?

RSM educators in all stages of their career (full professors, associate professors, tenure track assistant professors, lecturers, PhD students) who have employed exceptionally innovative teaching methods or content in a course or curriculum in the academic year 2024/2025.

Who can nominate candidates for the award?

RSM educators can nominate themselves or a colleague. Students (BSc, MSc, Premaster, Executive Master, MBA) can nominate an educator whose class they have attended.

How many candidates can be nominated?

Each person can nominate one candidate.

What is the nomination period?

Nominations can be submitted between now and 24 October 2025.

Who will assess the nominations?

The jury consists of the dean of education, the dean of executive education, the dean of faculty and the director of IMC.

What are the criteria for assessing the nominations?

The jury will consider all of the following criteria:

  • Novelty of the curriculum OR novelty of the employed teaching methods
  • Transferability of the innovation to other classes or programmes
  • Student course ratings or other sources of feedback from students (if available)

What is the prize?

A certificate of achievement will be awarded and can be uploaded to the winner’s social media.

RSM Outstanding Professional Service Award

What is the objective of the award?

Showing appreciation for RSM Professional Services staff who have delivered outstanding support to colleagues, students and prospective students, or alumni.

Who can be nominated?

RSM administrative staff who have been exceptionally supportive in the academic year 2024/2025.

Who can nominate candidates for the award?

Professional Services employees from both the faculty and the BV can nominate themselves or a colleague. Faculty members and students can nominate an administrative staff member who delivered outstanding support for them.

How many candidates can be nominated?

Each person can nominate one candidate.

What is the nomination period?

Nominations can be submitted between now and 24 October 2025.

Who will assess the nominations?

The jury consists of the directors of operations for RSM EUR and RSM BV, and the dean of faculty.

What are the criteria for assessing the nominations?

The jury will consider all of the following criteria:

  • Number and diversity of nominations of each candidate by different nominators
  • Degree to which the employee consistently fulfils the needs of their internal and external clients
  • Extent to which the employee proactively supports other colleagues with initiatives within the organisation
  • Assessment by the employee's supervisor

RSM Positive Change Award

What is the objective of the award?

This award will go out to an RSM faculty, staff or student who brings something new that helps the school move towards being a force of positive change in the world.

Who can be nominated?

All members of the RSM community – faculty, staff or students

Who can nominate candidates for the award?

Faculty, staff or students from both the faculty and the BV can nominate themselves or a colleague.

How many candidates can be nominated?

Each person can nominate one candidate.

What is the nomination period?

Nominations can be submitted between now and 24 October 2025.

Who will assess the nominations?

The jury consists of the RSM dean, dean of faculty and dean of education.

What are the criteria for assessing the nominations?

The jury will consider all of the following criteria:

  • Degree to which the activities contribute to RSM being a force for positive change in the world
  • Degree to which the activities “walk the walk and talk the talk” and show that business is an instrument for positive change
  • Degree to which the activities show our values (caring, creative, critical, collaborative)
  • Degree to which the activities contribute to the UN SGDs

Mariëtte Kaandorp Prize for Excellence in Thesis Mentoring

Mariëtte was an assistant professor in the department of Organisation and Personnel Management. She passed away in 2020, at the much too young age of 35. Among her many talents, Mariëtte had a special gift for nurturing her students. This award has been created by Mariëtte’s family in her memory.

What is the objective of the award?

This award recognises a master thesis advisor who supports students and empowers them to go beyond what they think they are capable of accomplishing; who provides direction and structure to the students, and works to establish a good rapport with them.

Who can be nominated?

Faculty who have supervised master thesis students in the academic year 2024/2025.

Who can nominate candidates for the award?

Students can nominate their thesis supervisor.

How many candidates can be nominated?

Each person can nominate one candidate.

What is the nomination period?

Nominations can be submitted between now and 24 October 2025.

Who will assess the nominations?

A jury consisting of the RSM dean of faculty and the dean of education will evaluate the submissions and choose a winner.

What are the criteria for assessing the nominations?

The jury will consider all of the following criteria:

  • Number and diversity of nominations of each candidate by different nominators
  • Degree to which the faculty member has gone out of their way to build support and inspire their students throughout the thesis process.
  • Assessment by the employee's supervisor

What is the prize?

Thanks to a generous donation from the family of Mariëtte Kaandorp, a cash prize will be awarded, along with a special certificate. Additionally, a certificate of achievement will be given to the winner, which they can upload to their social media.

When will the winners be announced?

The winners will be announced during the RSM Town Hall on 16 December 2025.
