According to Dirk Schoenmaker, Professor of Banking and Finance at RSM, Nordea's relocation of its headquarters from Stockholm to Helsinki may prove to be good for Sweden in the long run. "With the new structure of the branches, the entire burden of a potential rescue would fall on the home country, in other words the Swedish government," he says, pointing out that Nordea is too big a bank for Sweden to support in case of a possible crisis.
