Dr. Romain Cadario, assistant professor at RSM, recently studied the trust of patients in the use of artificial intelligence tools in healthcare. The potential of AI to improve cancer diagnoses, as a tool in drug discovery and helping to predict and manage future pandemics drew dr. Cadario and his colleagues Chiari Longoni and Carey Morewedge at Boston University to study it. Dr. Cadario states that while algorithms are difficult to dissect, a simple explanation of the mechanics of an AI tool can boost patients’ trust. In other words, transparency is key to receiving the trust of patients in the use of AI in healthcare.
