The number of fast-growing companies in the Netherlands has decreased by more than 10% in the past year to 2,720. In particular, 'more mature' fast-growing companies, which were on the eve of an international breakthrough, have deteriorated even more.

This is apparent from the ScaleUp Dashboard 2021 research presented on Friday, an initiative of Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship and RSM. Although the Dutch economy has recently recovered, the said downturn could have a 'lasting negative effect', the researchers fear. Justin Jansen, Professor of Corporate Entrepreneurship at RSM, leads the annual research.
