Research conducted by Jan van den Ende concluded that the Netherlands has been strong in enablers for innovation (ranking it 5th in the European Innovation Scoreboard), particularly in knowledge production and public support, and in research collaboration between public research institutes and the private sector. However, this can still be improved in many ways.
