PEP the Hague organized "Governing in the least amount hours", the first in a series of meetings for directors. After a brief survey, governing turned out to require a lot of leisure time of most board members. According to one of the speakers, Professor Lucas Meijs, 'Management Work should not determine your agenda, your agenda you should determine governance work'. Governing can be more efficient and therefore PEP announced 2017 to be the year of the volunteer governor.
