ABN Amro and ING are among the most profitable banks in Europe, according to the Financieele Dagblad. Also the provision of mortgages and loans is on the rise. Dirk Schoenmaker thinks it is a good example of FIFO: First In First Out. "ABN Amro and ING are the first to enter the hospital immediately after the crisis in 2008, so to speak. There they were treated harshly, with significant cuts, reorganization, and they got government support. They are lean and mean (slim and purposeful) true and are now reaping the benefits."
