A Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) team of student members of the RSM STAR Case Club took home first prize at the second edition of the Corvinus Undergraduate Business Experience (CUBE) Case Competition in Budapest. Between 11 and 17 April, the Corvinus University of Budapest and student organisation Corvinus Case Track Community organised and hosted the second edition of the (CUBE), the university’s flagship international case competition.

During the CUBE 2025 case competition, case challenges were provided by Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Magyar  Szárazvirág Kft., and Hyva, a leader in commercial vehicle transportation and hydraulic solutions. Jury members included representatives in senior management members from these companies and from Corvinus University.

The RSM student team won the competition and impressed judges with their sharp analysis and creative solutions. The team from University of Technology Sydney (UTS) secured second place, while the American University of Beirut team came in third.

Strategy under pressure

Each of the participating student teams tackled real-world business problems in a high-pressure showcase of strategy, insight and innovation. Participants competed in the following cases:

  • One-week case: Devise solutions for the development of a business plan to optimise the Hewlett Packard Enterprise product portfolio.
  • 24-hour case: Manage generational change at Magyar Szárazvirág Kft.
  • 7-hour case: Determine how commercial vehicle supplier Hyva could move towards sustainable operations.

Fair play on a global stage

The CUBE competition stands out not only for the calibre of its participants but also for its commitment to fairness. Teams from Budapest do not compete, thereby maintaining the event’s integrity and international character. By inviting only universities with proven excellence in other top-tier case club competitions, CUBE has quickly earned a reputation as a premier global case club event.

Congratulations to the RSM STAR Case Club student team on their win at CUBE 2025!
