SRSM is happy to announce that, for vegans and part-time vegans, plant-based options are now far more readily available at RSM, and on the EUR campus!

Eating a plant-based diet that centres around vegetables and fruits, legumes, beans, green and mixed salads, pasta and couscous, rice and other grains, and vegetable soups is now a snap. In the 4th floor cantina of the Mandeville (T) Building, VITAM Catering has done a great job of revamping its offerings to include a variety of vegan salads and often a vegan soup. Tasty, and much less likely to induce a post-lunch 'carbo coma' than your lovely broodje gezond!

Slightly farther afield, the Erasmus Pavillion is offering a vegan option each day (and don't forget - frites and beer are most certainly vegan, simply eschew the 'frite saus'). The Erasmus Food Plaza features New Fork, Oodlz and some delicious Indonesian specialities from Satebar, including 'faux' meat sate and Gado Gado. One big boost for reasonably priced vegan eating: SPAR. The SPAR at EUR is packed with vegan options, which are often organic and Fair Trade - cruise the aisles, read the labels, and grab-and-go with juices and fruit, nuts and (some) chips, and even dark chocolate. Lots of bread includes butter and/or eggs - why not try out some vegan crackers instead?

So - why go vegan if your idea of heaven includes a bacon cheeseburger?

How about this: The water needed to produce half a kilo of meat is equal to what you use in six months of showers. Amazing, isn't it?
