Global residency marks kick-off of studies for new OneMBA class

The 21-month Global Executive OneMBA programme is the only Executive MBA programme designed with equal input from five premier business schools located in Asia, Europe, North America and South America. Senior executives and professionals experience business through the lens of the world’s most important economic regions, making it unparalleled in its development of knowledge, leadership abilities, global networks and experience of international business where it happens, as it happens.

The 31 participants in RSM’s OneMBA class of 2016 are from Costa Rica, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Russia, Slovakia, Uganda, the UK, and Uzbekistan. Their average age is 41 and they have an average work experience of 17 years. RSM’s OneMBA class met in Rotterdam on 10 September 2014, after which the participants attended a week-long global residency in Washington D.C. This brought together 122 OneMBA participants and the programme leaders from all five OneMBA partner schools.

Students were “impressed” and “energised” by the academic sessions and the group’s spirit. “It was inspirational in the highest gear,” says Olav Andriesse, a OneMBA participant at RSM. “In such a diverse global class, the past few days have been interesting in the sense of balancing team roles and personal style of cultural awareness development.” The OneMBA participants will also attend global residencies in Europe, Latin America and Asia.

“Each year, it simply amazes me to see how well OneMBA participants connect with each other,” says Saskia Treurniet, Director of RSM’s OneMBA programme. “Clearly, one of the objectives for them to commit to the programme was already met in their first week; to connect and engage with peers who, through their diverse backgrounds and experience-sharing, help co-create exactly that environment that we anticipate for our OneMBA participants.”
