Assistant Professor Pamala Wiepking of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) has been selected for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) 2016 Emerging Scholar Award for her outstanding scholarship related to fundraising and philanthropy.

As the award recipient, Dr Wiepking will receive a commemorative certificate and the opportunity to contribute an article on her research to AFP’s magazine Advancing Philanthropy. AFP praised Wiepking for her work, and hopes she will encourage other scholars to pursue research in this field.

“Dr Wiepking is an outstanding early career researcher,” said Dr Adrian Sargeant, professor of marketing and director of the Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy at the University of Plymouth, UK. “In the course of a few short years, she has made a number of key contributions to the body of knowledge that underpin and support fundraising. Her ideas are now routinely taught around the world as part of professional development or educational programmes at certificate, diploma and master level.”

Wiepking said she feels honoured to receive this award. “It’s an important recognition of the AFP for research by young scholars contributing most to the practice of philanthropic professionals, including fundraisers and fundraising organisations,” she said. “Through my academic research, I aim to make philanthropy more meaningful for all actors involved. Receiving this award is an indication that my research is valued by philanthropy professionals worldwide, and it feels wonderful to be able to contribute to their important work.”
