How can business school knowledge and skills be transferred into leadership accomplishments in the sports industry? The new RSM Outlook, the twice-yearly magazine for alumni and corporate relations published by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), explores this with a series of articles about the business of sports.

Readers of RSM Outlook summer 2016 will find stories about RSM alumni who work in the sports business, including RSM alumnus and swimming coach Patrick Pearson who is preparing two-time gold medallist Ranomi Kromowidjojo for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Also, there are stories about MBA alumnus Giuseppe Puglisi’s experiences with leading an Amsterdam-based, top-level water polo team; as well as MBA alumnus Jacques Ohannessian’s role as director of consumer analytics for global powerhouse adidas.

Exclusive interviews

In addition to sports business, RSM Outlook summer 2016 features articles about the I WILL Award winner Kukua, RSM’s new online careers advisory platform RSM MentorMe, a reunion of a group of international students who did their exchange at RSM 25 years ago, and RSM’s first Women in Leadership Conference.

Exclusive interviews include a discussion between RSM dean Steef van de Velde and RSM’s founding dean Harry Langman, in which readers learn more about the school’s early days. The executive interview features RSM alumnus Nick Jue, CEO of ING Netherlands, who outlines why the bank must restructure and be quicker to innovate if it is to remain relevant to its customers. And this issue’s academic interview discussed Prof. Dirk van Dierendonck’s views on the human aspects of HR management.

Entrepreneurial dreams

RSM Outlook also features Sabrina Bos and Tomas Laboutka, two enterprising alumni who have turned their entrepreneurial dreams into a reality. In the Movers and Shakers section, professional advancements of RSM alumni are covered, and there are numerous news items and forthcoming events that should not be missed.
