For those who are planning to start their TYPO3 training, and for those who have already finished it: We have prepared a useful checklist of common mistakes in TYPO3 CMS and tips to prevent them. Here’s how you can create proper web pages that support your communication goals.

  1. Don’t forget to enable all of your pages: it might be easy to overlook, but this is the very first important step. You want your pages to be visible to visitors, and therefore you have to enable your pages, as well as your unindexed pages for the page-in-page element.

  2. Keep the writing style in mind: This Means That You Do Not Start Every Word With A Letter In Caps OR EVERY WORD IN CAPS. Use capital letters sparingly! There’s more about this in the EUR Style Guide, and also in the RSM Brand Toolbox.

  3. Don’t forget to add your anchor menu: the anchor menu can be found in the page properties, and needs to be manually activated for each element.

  4. Use the correct CTA (Call To Action) button colours: this means that in the header, the first CTA is in default, and the second is in white-outlined.

  5. Everything looks better if you use the correct header type: this needs to be either H2 or H3 for your elements.

  6. And always check what your page looks like on mobile view. You can do this by visiting the page on your smartphone, or by right-clicking with your mouse on your page, choose 'Inspect', and click the blue mobile phone logo on the right top of the page.

Keep these tips in mind to succeed with your TYPO3 training and avoid a Halloween nightmare!
