Introduction

We’re looking for an experienced and vibrant project manager who can contribute to a smooth and successful implementation and management of externally funded research projects, in close cooperation with the project leader, internal and external project stakeholders and the members of the Funding Team. You will be responsible for your own project portfolio while implementing the formal procedures of funded projects (including organising meetings and taking care of the project administration and reporting). You are expected to be both accommodating but also firm in guidance. The majority of tasks involve monitoring project processes.

Job description

You will act as the contact point for funding institutions, partner organisations, the Principal Investigator (PI) and other stakeholders in project implementation. You monitor the implementation process closely, prepare and submit reports on the scientific and administrative milestones and deliverables of the project. 

The project manager coordinates, monitors and improves the reporting processes and ensures timely and up-to-date project reporting. In cooperation with the project controller, you will also monitor project budgets. 

You will be expected to represent the RSM Project Desk in relevant discussions, such as funding team meetings, conferences and knowledge-sharing activities internally and externally. 

Job requirements

Required qualifications

  • An academic background (preferably MSc level).
  • Preferably several years’ experience in research project management in the European Framework (H2020, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+) and Dutch national funding programmes such as NWO and TKI schemes.
  • Preferably an excellent knowledge of rules and procedures for national and European funding programmes, or the experience which will enable you to quickly master these rules and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in Dutch and English (CEFR C1).
  • Ability to work flexibly and willing to travel to project meetings abroad.
  • Excellent planning skills and ability and willingness to meet tight deadlines, with experience in applying these in a complex and dynamic international context.

Employment conditions and benefits

An interesting and rewarding position for developing your project skills in a top 10 mission-driven European business school and reporting to the RSM Project Desk. 
Employment: temporary, initially for one year and after a successful evaluation and funding the contract could be extended.

The start date of this position is 1 July 2026 and you will be based at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University on the Woudestein campus.

This position is for 0.8 FTE. 

The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge, and ranges from a minimum of € 4,728 to a maximum of € 6,433 gross per month at Scale 11 and on a full-time basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is offered for a period of 1 year and can be converted into an employment contract for an indefinite period if suitability is proven and if continued in the same position, if financial and/or organisational circumstances remain the same.
