Introduction

Have you been a teaching assistant or held a similar role where you've helped others navigate challenges and excel in their duties? When you’re committed to making a difference and leaving a lasting impact on the educational landscape of Erasmus University Rotterdam, then we have an exciting opportunity for you!

For the upcoming academic year, 2024-2025, we're seeking enthusiastic individuals to step into the role of trainer at the Tutor Academy at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). The ultimate goal: get you ready to tutor the tutors teaching our bachelor programme students at RSM.

Job description

As a trainer at the Tutor Academy, you play a vital role in delivering dynamic didactical and soft-skill training sessions to our team of teaching assistants. Your expertise is instrumental in preparing your trainees to:

  • provide solid feedback;
  • overcome challenges; and
  • facilitate engaging discussions.

From mastering the art of setting boundaries to tackling tricky situations and ensuring positive energy in the room, your role is vital in shaping the next generation of tutors.

Job requirements

  • Registered as a student for at least the 2024-2025 academic year, longer commitment appreciated.
  • Fluency in English or Dutch. Bonus points for bilingualism!
  • Physical availability in Rotterdam starting in late August is a must; trainings are scheduled according to the trainer’s availability but must take place on-campus. Pre- and post-training work can be done remotely.
  • You have been a teaching-assistant yourself before or have experience in a similar/relevant role.

Employment conditions and benefits

  • An onboarding process that includes a training by an expert trainer
  • A 12-month EURFlex contract, ensuring you're fairly compensated for your time also including time spent preparing, hosting, and following up on training sessions.
  • A gross hourly rate between €15.87 to €15.90 for second- and third-year students, and €17.24 to €17.28 for fourth-year and master students as of autumn 2024.
    Because the collective labour agreement is renewed in August, these rates will likely rise.
