The event for 25 alumni in the region was hosted by Taiwan Chapter: Theresa Yang, MBA 2016 (President), Natalie Chen, MBA 2016 (Vice-president), and Vince Liu, EMBA 2018 (Secretary General). Other alumni also contributed to make the event go with a swing.
Alumni from 1994 to 2017
RSM has a strong community of alumni in Taiwan and their reunions are a regular event for them to stay connected to each other as well as to the school. They had organised a few online events over the past year, but the in-person event was highly anticipated and worth the wait.
Alumni attending the reunion attended RSM between 1994 and 2017. Hero Tai from the MBA class of 1994 was the first president of the Taiwan alumni chapter with the earliest memories of RSM. His fellow alumni come from diverse professional backgrounds and industries, such as international law, enterprise software, management consulting, gaming, consumer packaged goods, wine making, an international luxury brand, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, banking, semiconductor manufacture, and international transport.
Wine, golf and the low-carbon economy
The blind wine tasting session was sponsored by winemaker Peter Mertes and presented by RSM alumna Jenny Lee, who is Managing Director of Peter Mertes Asia Limited.
Enthusiasm for further reunion activities included a proposal by Po-Chien Chen (MBA 2007) to form an RSM Golf Team to compete with alumni from Ivy League business schools in Taiwan. So far, five alumni have agreed to form the first Taipei golf team.
Great example of real-world impacts
Speaking during the reunion at the Terrace, Humble House in Taipei, host Theresa Yang said: “The fiftieth anniversary of RSM is a special occasion for us to reunite alumni across three decades in Taiwan to celebrate all advancements of life. More importantly, the reunion party manifests the real-world impacts of RSM, showcasing what a great example the alumni network is. It’s a remarkable extension of RSM.”
