Evaluation Criteria

As a numerux fixus programme, IBA applicants are given selection points, which are used for ranking and selecting the top 750 applicants. The selection points are based on your grades and your motivation;
  • Grades 75%: Your average grade counts the most for the final ranking. The lower your grades, the fewer selection points you'll receive. If you do not meet the minimum grade average listed for your diploma, we advise you to apply elsewhere. Use the search tool below to find the criteria for your diploma.
  • Motivation 25%: You will answer 3 motivation questions when applying
You must also meet the minimum English and Mathematics requirements listed for your diploma type.

  • Titulo de Bachiller AND

  • PAU/EBAU/EvAU exams

General requirements

  • Accepted Titulo de Bachiller profiles: ciencias y tecnologia/ humanidades y ciencias sociales/ artes

  • It is mandatory to pass the PAU/ EBAU/EvAU exams with a minimum overall of 6.0 plus a minimum score of 6.0 for mathematics  

Mathematics requirement

  • Matemáticas II profile Ciencias with minimum grade of 8

  • If you do not meet this grade requirement, or if you are taking Matemáticas aplicadas a las ciencias sociales, you must take a mathematics exam

English language requirement

Selection points

  • You will be granted selection points if you have a Grade Average of 8 or higher.

  • If your grades are below this, you will not earn selection points for your final ranking

For applicants in the final year of high school: 

  • Your Grade Average will be calculated based on the grades of your penultimate year (the year before your final year). 

For graduated applicants: 

  • Your Grade Average will be calculated based on the results achieved in both your final year of study and the national exams.  

Additional requirements

  • If you follow more than one education system and do a combination of different curricula and/or obtain more than one diploma (e.g. the International Baccalaureate (IB) or American High School Diploma), your application will be evaluated based on the requirements of just one diploma type. Check the specific requirements for that diploma on this website.   

  • A revaluation of another diploma type to the Titulo de Bachiller is not accepted. 
  • For graduates: If you have not received your diploma yet, request your school for a statement that you have successfully completed your secondary school education and have obtained the Titulo de Bachiller. You must also include proof of payment for the issuance of the Titulo de Bachiller. 
  • You must include the RSM diploma statement in your application. This statement must be filled in by your school counselor or school representative. If you have already graduated at the time of applying, the statement is not required.
  • In the application, you must submit official grade lists signed by your mentor or school representative. Screenshots or self-made Word/Excel documents with your grades will not be accepted.   • If you do not meet this requirement, you must take an English language test

  • If you have passed the College Board AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC exam with a minimum score of 4, you meet the mathematics requirement.  

English language requirement

  • You will be granted selection points if you have a Grade Average of 80 or higher. If your grades are below this, you will not earn selection points for your final ranking

For applicants in the final year of high school: 

  • Your Grade Average will be calculated based on the grades of your penultimate year (the year before your final year).

For graduated applicants: 

  • Your Grade Average will be based on the grade (Diploma Puani (Notu)) as listed on your diploma.  

Additional requirements

  • If you are following courses from both the Lisé Diplomasi and the International Baccalaureate (IB) and earn an IB diploma, your school needs to list your IB courses clearly on your grade reports. The subjects you plan to take for your IB exams should correspond with the IB courses on your grade reports and the RSM diploma statement. Make sure to provide the subject names and levels, including languages and mathematics courses (Analysis & Approaches SL/HL or Applications & Interpretation SL/HL). 

  • If you are enrolled in multiple educational systems and receive another diploma alongside your national secondary school diploma (such as the IB or American High School Diploma), we will assess your application based on one of these diploma types. If you have both an IB diploma and a diploma from your home country that is not equivalent to the Dutch pre-university (VWO) diploma, your application will be evaluated based on the requirements for the IB diploma. 
  • If you have or obtain both the Lisé Diplomasi and the International Baccalaureate (IB), your application will be assessed based on the IB requirements. If your IB exams take place in November, you must provide these results, which are typically released in January, by the January 31. These results will be used for the evaluation. 
  • Predicted (IB) grades are not used for the evaluation. 
  • If you have taken the College Board AP Calculus AB or BC exam, you must provide your AP  College Board result slip, which needs to be signed and stamped by your school representative. 
  • You must include the RSM diploma statement in your application. This statement must be filled in by your school counselor or school representative and clearly indicate which diploma you will obtain. If you have already graduated at the time of applying, the statement is not required.
  • In the application, you must submit official grade lists signed by your mentor or school representative. Screenshots or self-made Word/Excel documents with your grades will not be accepted.   • Six different subjects in total 
  • *Accepted subjects: Accounting, Ancient History, Biology, Business (Studies), Chemistry, Classical Civilisation, Classical Studies, Computer Science, Economics, Environmental Science / Technology, Further Mathematics, Geography, Government and Politics, History, History of Art, Information Technology, Islamic Studies, Languages (maximum one), Law, Life and Health Sciences, Marine Sciences, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Politics, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology, Statistics. 
  • A maximum of one GCE A-level language is allowed; a second language is only accepted as an additional (4th) GCE A-level
  • Further Mathematics and Statistics are only accepted as an additional (4th) GCE A-level
  • Information Technology and Computer Science are considered as 1 GCE A-level

Mathematics requirement

  • If you are in your final year of high school, you must have obtained a minimum score of B for AS-level and you must take mathematics as GCE A level.  

  • If you have not taken the AS Mathematics exam, you must have obtained a minimum grade of B based on your interim/progress report obtained in your penultimate year (year before the last year). 
  • If you do not intend to take GCE A-level mathematics, you must take a mathematics exam
  • If you have graduated, you must have obtained a minimum grade of B for GCE A-level Mathematics. If you do not meet this requirement, you must take a mathematics exam.

English language requirement

  • At the time of application, you have followed your secondary school education fully in English, or can prove that at least the past 2,5 years you were taught fully in English. This only applies to students who follow education in a native English-speaking country (USA, UK, Canada (with the exception of Quebec), Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa). 

  • If you have completed your education in a non-English speaking country, you must have completed (I)GCSE First Language English with a minimum grade of B (5). 
  • If you do not meet any of these above requirements, you must take an English language test

For applicants in the final year of high school

  • If you have not graduated yet, you must provide your official (I)GCSE certificates and AS certificates (if applicable). These certificates should be issued by the relevant official examination boards  

  • If you do not have AS grades or certificates, you must provide an interim or progress report of grades obtained in the penultimate year 
  • If you have already graduated, you must provide your official (I)GCSE certificates, AS certificates (if applicable), and GCE A-level certificates. These certificates should be issued by the relevant official examination boards

General requirements

  • Applicants are required to show proof of at least 4 Advanced Placement (AP) exams in general academic subjects* before the start of their studies.

  • At the time of applying applicants must have successfully passed at least 1 AP exam with a sufficient result. 
  • The minimum score in at least 2 out of the 4 AP exams must be a 4. Two APs may have a score of 3. For Calculus AB or BC, the AP score must be at least a 4. 
  • Only AP exams administered by the College Board are accepted**. 
  • *Accepted subjects: Art History, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Comparative Government and Politics, European History, Human Geography, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Psychology, United States Government and Politics, United States History, World History: Modern, Calculus AB or BC, Computer Science, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, World Languages and Cultures. 
  • Not accepted: AP Capstone, AP Research, AP Seminar, AP Art and Design Program. 
  • Note: A maximum of one AP language is accepted.
  • Overlapping subjects (for example AP Calculus AB/Calculus BC or AP US History, AP European History and AP World History or AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics) are not considered as individual subjects but counted as one AP exam. Likewise English Language and Composition/English Literature and Composition are considered as one AP 

Mathematics requirement

  • Applicants are required to have taken the AP exam in Calculus AB or BC with a minimum result of 4. Applicants who do not meet this requirement at the time of application are required to take a mathematics exam. SAT and ACT are not accepted.  

English requirement

  • At the time of application, you have followed your secondary education fully in English or can prove that at least the past 2.5 years you were taught fully in English. This only applies to students who follow education in a native English-speaking country (USA, UK, Canada (with the exception of Quebec), Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa).

For applicants in the final year of high school: 

  • The grades of your penultimate year (the year before your final year) including your AP College Board result(s) will be used to calculate your GPA. 

For graduated applicants: 

  • The results of your final year and the AP College Board results will be used to calculate your GPA. 

Additional requirements

  • At the time of application, you must have already completed at least one College Board AP exam with a sufficient score 

  • Applicants must list their College Board AP exams already obtained and/or the planned College Board AP exams. Always include a print-out from the College Board AP exams, signed and stamped by your school representative. 

  • Applicants who follow more than one education system and next to the American High School Diploma also obtain another diploma will be assessed according to the requirements of one diploma type and must meet the requirements for one of these diplomas. A revaluation of the American High School Diploma to another diploma type is not accepted.  
  • You must include the RSM diploma statement in your application. This statement must be filled in by your school counselor or school representative. If you have already graduated at the time of applying, the statement is not required.
