Ivin Mauricio

Head of Customer Care Netherlands & Sweden at CWS

"Leadership is a conversation and by truly listening and going through the change process rigorously you will have the greatest chance of successfully leading change. All of us – the professors and students – made sure we fostered a safe environment in which we could dig deep, learn, and grow together. After each module I left invigorated and confident with what I had learned and experienced.”

Ivin is head of customer care for CWS, a specialist supplier of hygiene products, industrial clothing, entrance mats and cleanrooms.

He found the knowledge and experience of his teachers and professors was aligned with the current social, economic, and digital worldview. “What we learned was elaborate in theory but readily applicable in practice. After each module I left invigorated and confident with what I had learned and experienced.” The programme covers leadership, strategy, finance and change management in four core modules that start in September and take place over three or four days in September, December, May and June. Participants also choose one of four electives that take place in March, April and May.

A deeply personal experience

Exploring your leadership skills is a deeply personal experience, so it’s important that participants are provided with the right conditions in which to do so. “All of us – the professors and students – made sure we fostered a safe environment in which we could dig deep, learn, and grow together.”

Ivin felt a connection with RSM’s mission to be a force for positive change in the world, and reassured that he would be studying at a business school that is internationally so highly regarded. “To be a force for positive change in an ever-changing world is what drives me to become a better leader so I was really inspired by the mission of RSM.”

Reflecting on ‘self’ – together

He appreciated that the programme was developed from years of executive experience and academic knowledge. “It brings together theory and practice in a such a way that it can be applied immediately, and particularly for the challenge of leadership. The most difficult thing in leading others is leading yourself. Learning to truly understand oneself and how you come across to others, and learning and experimenting how you can change, this is something I apply at work every day.

“We were encouraged to reflect on ourselves and grow together. This brought the group together in such a way that we have kept in touch as a team. It was really rewarding to be part of this group of executives.”

Understand why I want to be a leader

“Thanks to the programme I have a better and deeper understanding of why I want to be a leader and how I can bring groups along a path of positive change. Leadership is a conversation and by truly listening and going through the change process rigorously you will have the greatest chance of successfully leading change.”
