Lucas Meijs and Philine van Overbeeke of RSM interviewed 450 volunteer managers about what they considered important in their work. For this research they have divided volunteer organisations into four categories based on two dimensions. Not all four categories seem to fit in well with practice. Nevertheless, the starting points of their approach provide valuable suggestions to get started in practice.
