A new three-day business education programme in June focuses on improving business results as technology and markets constantly change. It is aimed at managers striving to keep the link between strategic planning and daily operations planning, and offers updated skills for sales and operations planning (S&OP) and integrated business planning (IBP). This new executive education programme From S&OP to IBP runs for the first time from 12-14 June at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, and is aimed particularly at middle and senior managers from all disciplines and industries keen to develop from ‘just’ balancing demand and supply to a focus on improving business results.
The programme uses a unique ‘learning by doing’ experience which accelerates the speed of learning, and breaks the habit of optimising only according to function or in silos. Programme teachers Alfons Willemsen and Dr Peter Tielemans from Involvation, a consultancy to improve supply chain management and efficiency, have observed that using improvisation as a strategy for planning leads to reactive behaviour; instead they propose a structured approach and process to improve business results.
“The fundamentals are easy to understand, but implementation is more than the technical aspects. You need a clear understanding of your company’s current status and ambition,” said Alfons Willemsen. “More demanding customers, stakeholders and shareholders require higher performance and predictability from planning processes.
“We integrate the factor of human behaviour into the programme to increase the implementation capability of participants.”
This highly interactive workshop uses a business simulation to identify pitfalls and difficulties in the processes, and to practice implementation. It will deliver the latest knowledge and best practices in S&OP and IBP implementation. Participants will learn to align key performance indicators (KPIs) that support their organisations’ strategy.
The programme is taught in English at RSM’s Woudestein campus. It takes place on 12, 13 and 14 June 2018. For more information and to reserve a place, visit www.rsm.nl/S&OP.
