A fifth consecutive quality accreditation has been awarded to Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) by the European Quality Improvement System) EQUIS, a part of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). In particular, RSM was praised for the quality and quantity of its academic research; the development of international programmes, both at pre-experience MSc and MBA level; and the quality of its faculty and faculty management system.

EQUIS assessed the whole of RSM, not just its MBA programmes but all programmes from bachelor to PhD, and activities including research, executive education and community activities. It looked for a balance between high academic quality and professional relevance provided by close interaction with the corporate world. Equally as important as RSM’s research was RSM’s strengthening relationship with the world of business, and the effective learning environment that favours the development of students’ managerial and entrepreneurial skills, and fosters their sense of global responsibility. RSM won the maximum five-year accreditation.

Dirk van Dierendonck, RSM Dean a.i., says: “We are very proud of our fifth full EQUIS re-accreditation. The continued international recognition by EFMD is an important enabler to realise RSM’s strategic goal to become a leading school for positive change.  Through EQUIS accreditation, we enhance the quality of our research, education and services to our students and faculty, our business partnerships, and the wider community. Thank you EQUIS peer review team – and thank you to the RSM team that made this happen again!”

RSM is one of around 150 EQUIS-accredited business schools worldwide, and was one of the first business schools to receive a full five-year accreditation in 1998 at the launch of EQUIS. Following its initial accreditation in 1998, RSM was re-accredited in 2003, 2009, and 2014 – and now again in 2019.

RSM is also one of the 1 per cent of business schools worldwide to have Triple Crown accreditation with awards from the three most important international independent accreditation committees, as well as regional and independent accreditation bodies. RSM is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, (AACSB), the Association of MBAs (AMBA), as well as EQUIS.
