PhD candidate Gizem Yalcin won an award for her research activities in the field of marketing management, which she conducts at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). It was announced at the conference of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making (SJDM) in Montréal, Canada in November 2019.

The Society for Judgment and Decision Making is an interdisciplinary academic organisation and every year, researchers from various fields, including psychology, organisational behaviour, decision science and marketing come together to present their ongoing work. The Beattie award is a memorial scholarship (in the memory of Jane Beattie) and it is granted to an early-career faculty or an advanced graduate student who work in judgment and decision-making area. It comes with a US$750 scholarship to subsidise the travel fees to the SJDM conference, which was held in Montréal, Canada this year.

Gizem also gave a talk at the conference. Her presentation was about one of her ongoing projects in the judgment and decision making area, a joint-research project with Dr Gabriele Paolacci on prosocial behaviour.
