Claudia Rutten is a governance and legal professional with experience in higher education, organisational governance and legal affairs. Since 2017, she has served as executive secretary to the Executive Board (EB) of RSM, to support the EB and senior leadership team on governance-related matters, coordinate decision-making processes, and advise on legal and organisational matters.
Prior to her current position, Claudia has held various legal advisory and project management roles at RSM. Earlier in her career, she worked for the following Dutch agencies: Legal Aid Board; Ministry of Justice and Security; and Public Prosecution Service.
Professional biography
Claudia Rutten studied at Maastricht University and obtained there a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Dutch Law, specialising in Criminal Law. She also holds a degree in Socio-Legal Services from Zuyd University of Applied Sciences.
She began her career at the Dutch Public Prosecution Service and subsequently held positions also in the Netherlands at the Ministry of Justice and Security and the Legal Aid Board, thereby contributing to legal, policy and organisational initiatives within the Dutch justice sector.
In 2011, Claudia joined RSM, where she held legal advisory and project management roles that focused on legal affairs, contract management and externally funded projects. Since 2017, she has served as executive secretary to the Executive Board. In that role, she supports governance processes, advises on legal and procedural matters, and facilitates effective decision-making and stakeholder engagement across the organisation.
