Brown bag seminar on writing realistic business cases.

Fictional cases are as useful as real-life business cases for teaching – find out where the stories come from and how to make them realistic in the next quarterly Brown Bag seminar hosted by the Case Development Centre (CDC) at RSM on Tuesday, 28 October.

The CDC team will share their experiences about creating and using fictional case studies to bring reality to the classroom and enhance learning. The one-hour seminar will include a 40-minute presentation followed by 20-30 minutes of discussion.

Programme

The seminar will cover:

  • Creation and usage: from generalising real-life situations to building imagined scenarios, the use of AI tools, and practical examples from different teaching contexts
  • Benefits and challenges: learning outcomes, usability, student engagement, and comparisons with real-life cases
  • Publishing and dissemination: platforms for sharing, audience and publisher reception, and adapting to HBR-style formats
  • Future directions: applications in digital, hybrid, large-classroom environments, as well as in assessment
