Cologne, 18 September 2015 --- With the launch of a new Executive MBA programme, business education is the latest commodity to travel a centuries-old trade route between Cologne in the west of Germany and Rotterdam in the west of the Netherlands. The Cologne-Rotterdam Executive MBA (CR-EMBA) is an international executive development programme for managers, developed by two esteemed institutions; the University of Cologne (UoC) and Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). The programme was officially launched on 18 September 2015 at the University of Cologne.

The new 24-month executive part-time MBA is based on the well-established Executive MBA at RSM, a programme long recognised for its truly international level of leadership and international exposure. The Cologne-Rotterdam EMBA will prepare leaders from any business or industry background for senior management challenges and responsibilities, in local and international business arenas. The format involves studying every other weekend, and fits around the lifestyles of executives without interrupting their day-to-day work. Applications are now open for the Cologne-Rotterdam Executive MBA programme, which is taught in English and starts in September 2016.

World-class management education

After a short ceremony to officially launch the programme, Dean of RSM, Professor Steef van de Velde commented: “This joint Executive MBA programme uses RSM’s expertise in delivering premium management education and takes it to Cologne. The relationship builds on the strengths of both institutions and locations, and brings world-class management education to the Rühr-Rhine area, putting it within easy reach of managers in the region.”

Ulrich Thonemann, Dean of the Executive School of UoC said: “We consider that the partnership between the University of Cologne and RSM is a natural fit; a highly ranked university and a triple-accredited business school.”

Global business network

The programme will be highly selective, so fellow participants will become part of a unique network of globally-orientated managers. Teaching and visiting faculty are among the top academics in the world and will present the latest scientific research in a way that is designed for practical application in business during the academically rigorous programme.
