RSM has opened the RSM China Office in Chengdu at Western Business School, on the Guanghua Campus of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in Chengdu, China. Ms Jingzhi Xiao (Welkin) was appointed Senior Representative of the RSM China office.

“The demand for management education in China is booming. The office will therefore primarily serve as an information and recruitment centre for prospective students.” says RSM Dean, Professor Steef van de Velde.

“RSM also has a wealth of relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations, including alumni, companies, and partner universities all over China,” added Ms Jingzhi Xiao (Welkin), newly appointed Senior Representative of the RSM Chengdu office. “We see that Chinese universities and business schools have developed a strong interest in collaboration with international institutions. These networks offer many opportunities and need to be maintained, managed and further enhanced.”

“We chose SWUFE as the location of the RSM China Office as Sichuan province and its capital, Chengdu, play a pivotal role in the national "One Belt One Road” initiative, a key element of the economic development strategy of China”, Van de Velde says. “The office also serves as a platform for both business schools to enhance bilateral research co-operation and exchanges.”

Growing reputation

“We are proud of our partnerships in China, which support management, leadership and economic development through our combined strengths in research and teaching”, says Dr Ying Zhang, associate Dean for China business and relations at RSM. “Our growing reputation in China is rooted in our excellent research and our international programmes, and Chinese universities recognise our top rankings in Europe.”

Dean Van de Velde adds that university education worldwide has become more open, and students now go both ways in exchange and study choices. “As a result, international business schools, especially those that depend heavily on tuition fees, have created stronger footprints in foreign markets than ever before,” he said. Van de Velde looks forward to working closely together with top Chinese universities for research, education programmes and industrial influence. “This offers RSM’s students and corporate partners a unique value proposition,” said the dean.

“It is very important for RSM to reach out and connect to our stakeholders in mainland China,” says Van de Velde. “The proximity of this new office will allow all of them to benefit from all the services we offer them.”

The RSM Chengdu office is located at SWUFE Guanghua Campus, Room 102 WBS Building, No.55 Guanghuacun Street, Chengdu, P.R. China, 610074. For more information, please contact its Senior Representative, Jingzhi Xiao (Welkin), on +86 (28) 87099034 or by email at j.xiao@rsm.nl.
