Tutor Academy Student Assistant AY 2026/2027

We are looking for a student/research assistant to support two professors. The position is based on 8 hours of work per week in total, divided across the two professors. The role is generally flexible and fits easily around your studies and other commitments. For the most part, you will work independently and manage your own time. Demands may vary across weeks, meaning there might be periods where you work more than 8 hours a week. These periods are always compensated by less busy periods where you work less than 8 hours. The contract officially starts around the third week of August (with some flexibility to the actual start date). The collaboration will be evaluated after 6 months and may be extended for another 6 months upon a positive evaluation.

In general, the work consists of a mix of research, education, and administration. The task package will likely change throughout the year but will at least involve some of the tasks described below.

prof. dr. ir. Erik van Raaij is Professor of Sustainable Procurement in Health Care at Rotterdam School of Management and Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management. Next to this, he is also appointed as Medical Delta professor at TU Delft. His most recent inaugural lecture gives an overview of some of his current work. 

Tasks for Erik will involve:

• Supporting in research projects concerned with procurement, sustainability, circularity, and care (e.g., literature review, quantitative/qualitative data analysis).
• Supporting in the preparation of educational material concerned with Strategic Sourcing, Research Methods, and Sustainable Procurement.

prof. dr. ir. Jan Dul is a professor of technology and human factors at Rotterdam School of Management. He is the founder of Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA), a rapidly growing research methodology officially introduced in 2016.

Tasks for Jan will involve:

• Maintaining and managing an Excel-based master file used to keep track of all publications using NCA (in collaboration with another researcher).
• Using the master file to generate specific insights, typically based on requests formulated by Jan. This can range from simple questions (e.g., “Do we have any publications using NCA focusing on topic X?”) to more abstract, complicated research questions (e.g., “How do publications using NCA rank compared to other publications in the field?” or “What is the quality of NCA publications focused on topic X?”).
• Maintaining the NCA website (no former experience required).
• Various other NCA-related requests.

• will be a master or third-year bachelor student in the upcoming year
• can work autonomously

• can adapt to changing tasks/needs
• master the English language
