At Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), we believe that business can – and must – be a force for positive change. But real-world change does not begin and end in the classroom. The Hummingbird Fund helps our students take bold steps beyond traditional learning. It gives them the resources, the encouragement, and the opportunity to test their ideas for good.
Through small, student-led projects, this fund empowers young minds to turn a sense of responsibility into meaningful action for their communities, their environment, and our shared future.
The Hummingbird Fund supports experiential learning projects that create positive local impact. It’s named after the idea that even the smallest actions can create powerful ripples. A lesson we believe every student should experience first-hand.
Every year, RSM awards grants of €500 to €3,000 to student-designed projects that propose innovative solutions to social or environmental challenges. Each proposal is carefully reviewed by a panel of faculty and staff, who select projects with strong potential for learning, growth and impact.
Projects must be new and action-oriented. They can range from grassroots campaigns to community outreach, sustainability initiatives or pilot programmes for social enterprises. Students are supported throughout the process by RSM staff, who guide them in delivering their project effectively, on time, and on budget.
Traditional education offers knowledge. But real growth often comes when students are challenged to act. Your donation directly supports RSM students who want to do just that: take initiative, collaborate, and create meaningful change.
With your help, we can fund more projects, reach more communities, and prepare more young changemakers to tackle the world's most pressing challenges. Whether you’re an alumnus, a friend of RSM, or a corporate partner, your contribution becomes part of a powerful chain reaction. One that starts with a single student and grows into something far greater.
