With artificial intelligence (AI) reshaping how we search for information and make decisions, and with the ability to influence the creation of new products and services, or redesigning of the ones we already have, professionals need to harness the power of AI tools. That’s why Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) has launched AI for Creative Thinking, a new Executive Education course that goes through the full creative process using generative AI.

AI for Creative Thinking is a hands-on, fully online course that covers the complete creative process from beginning to end, and builds a portfolio of ideas that can be directly applied at work. The first course is scheduled for 11 September 2026 and is now available to book online.

The programme consists of five live sessions of two hours each, spread over five weeks, combined with assignments and self-study labs between sessions. During the sessions, instructors introduce frameworks, tools, and live demonstrations. Participants immediately apply these approaches to develop their own portfolio of innovative ideas using generative AI tools. The course also includes peer-to-peer feedback, allowing participants to learn from each other while refining their ideas.

By the end of the programme, participants will have developed their own AI-supported creative portfolio, which they can continue using in their daily work.

Led by Prof. Dirk Deichmann, professor of creativity and innovation at RSM, and Dr Dimitrios Tsekouras, associate professor of transformative education, the course is designed for professionals who want to integrate AI into existing projects or develop new ideas from scratch.

Unanswered questions – answered!

Giorgi Dundua, RSM Executive Education instructional designer, explained, “While many people already use tools like ChatGPT, key questions often remain unanswered. How do you write better prompts? Are there structured methods that lead to better outputs? How can you imagine ideas from a stakeholder perspective? When should you rely on AI, and when should you intervene? How do you know when an AI-generated idea is ready to implement? How can you pitch your ideas to key stakeholders for their buy-in?”

He continued, “This course addresses these strategic questions. It helps participants move beyond simple output generation and start using AI as a creative partner for prototyping, testing ideas, and making stronger decisions.”

Who would benefit from the course

The course is open to participants from all business functions, but it is especially relevant for mid-career professionals whose work requires creative problem-solving. This includes product owners, product designers, innovation specialists, marketing and sales professionals, and business development managers.

For anyone responsible for solving problems, developing new products, services, or improving processes, this course provides a practical next step in learning how to use AI to generate and refine ideas.

Dundua said, “We’re very proud to be one of the first business schools in Europe to offer a short, executive course on this topic. We want to demystify the hype around AI and help professionals turn it into a practical strategic advantage for innovation and creative process.”
