Within a week after publication, a book by Professor Justin Jansen and Professor Tom Mom reached the first place in the top 100 best-sold books on the online management bookstore managementboek.nl in April 2021. The professors from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) aim to help companies grow fast in a healthy way in times of change.

The professors provide tips and tools for building a future-proof company to stay successful as an entrepreneur, now and in the future. “Healthy growth is much more than simply ‘growing’. It is also about becoming smarter, more agile and more sustainable. In practice, this is a tough job. We see that a large group of entrepreneurs is lagging behind,” Jansen says.

Prof. Jansen adds: “A smart company is future-oriented and constantly renews itself. We give you a look behind the scenes of successful growth companies such as Takeaway, Coolblue, Jumbo and YoungCapital. We talk about what you can learn from them, and how you can apply it.”

Five steps to grow

The Dutch book is entitled Naar een gezond groeibedrijf in vijf stappen: succesvol zijn en blijven in tijden van verandering (Five steps towards a healthy company: being and remaining successful in times of change). Each chapter is concluded with a practical summary so entrepreneurs and managers can get started.

In the book, Jansen and Mom present five steps to grow as healthily as possible and remain successful in a changing world. “We hope to create impact and support entrepreneurs to sense and seize new opportunities successfully by becoming faster, stronger and more adaptive. We have translated our multiyear research at well-known growth companies into five practical steps based on which every entrepreneur can build the future of his or her firm.”
