From 12-19 April, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) bachelor and master students flocked to Erasmus Woudestein campus for the RSM career bootcamp and career fair, hosted by RSM’s Career Centre. This proved to be both an informative and useful event that brought students in face-to-face contact with potential future employers.

Recruiters, alumni and even some experienced colleagues made up the professional attendees at this year’s RSM career bootcamp and career fair. Additionally, trainees and recent graduates were on hand to share their career experiences with RSM students. Participating companies showcased their employer branding to the diverse and proactive students and familiarised themselves with the RSM student base. For students, this was a great way to connect with companies and learn about new possibilities.

Throughout the week, students participated in lively rounds of speed interviews, a consultancy case courtesy of SOA People, and various workshops which offered advice about how to improve a CV, prepare for an interview and gain savvy LinkedIn skills. The speed interviews were such a success, that some companies even invited students to their office for a more in-depth discussion or to meet that company’s team and get a clearer picture about the company’s culture and services.

An off-site event also took place, hosted by corporate participant, Quooker. Quooker offered students an in-house day on 18 April. This was organised at their Dutch head office in Ridderkerk, the Netherlands and it gave the students a bird’s eye view about how it might be to work at Quooker.

Said first-year IBA student Lucas Andersen, It was an eye opener to different possibilities which are out in the world. It’s cool to see what different companies are looking for in candidates … I got to meet [with many company representatives] and learn about new possibilities and, hopefully, a job opportunity.”

“The RSM Career Bootcamp was an excellent opportunity for our team to network with young talents. We had a great time,” remarked Julie van den Woldenberg of Inverto – a BCG company.
