Prof. Joep Cornelissen, professor of Corporate Communication and Management in the Department of Business-Society Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), has been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Management (AoM) in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of management. Among other examples, his textbook on corporate communication has influenced generations of students and practitioners. His scholarly writings and various editorial roles at management journals have made a significant impact as well, contributing to the quality and dissemination of management research.
According to the AOM, the purpose of the Fellows Group is “to recognize and honor members of the Academy of Management who have made significant contributions to the science and practice of management, and to provide opportunities for fellowship and a forum for discussion among persons so recognized and honored.”
For RSM’s Prof. Cornelissen, the honour comes after more than two decades of supporting scholarship in the field through his own writings and various roles and contributions to the management community, such as serving as an editor at the Journal of Management Studies and Academy of Management Review and being the founding editor of the open access journal Organization Theory.
An amazing global community
On receiving the honour, Prof. Cornelissen said, “For me, the AoM has always been an amazing global community of colleagues to learn from and connect with, offering enriching opportunities for professional development and a way to collectively strengthen the impact of management research across the world.
“It is a genuine honour to be recognised by my peers for the work I have done. I also see it as a wonderful opportunity to contribute to promoting the value of management research and, particularly, to support early career researchers as they develop their research and careers.”
