Continuous recognition as a leader in management education across global rankings has been at the core of the reputation of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) for decades. And alongside this is a strong performance in research and education rankings that  consistently reinforces the school's reputation as a leading international business school.

RSM is featured in a large number of international rankings including the European and Worldwide rankings for the Financial Times (FT), the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai ranking), Corporate Knights, Princeton and QS Worldwide University and European rankings.

“This past year RSM has remained strong maintaining our top 5 placement for business administration in the Shanghai rankings as well as top placements in the FT European in 15th place, and the FT’s global rankings in 10th place,” noted RSM Dean of Education, Michel Lander.  “This is a real testament to our faculty and students for the tremendous work and dedication they have for our school, and as members of our community.”

A fast-changing market

Recent rankings for RSM’s MBA and Executive MBA programmes, published by QS,  Financial Times , Princeton Review and Corporate Knights, are reflective of a number of challenges – including the ups and downs of a competitive education market, changes in the methodologies used for calculating rankings, as well as the appearance of new business schools which are directly affect RSM’s position in the results.

“There is increasing competition to attract the best and brightest students, and we know that rankings are an important factor in their decision-making process. A strong position in the rankings enables us to attract and recruit excellent and highly employable students, and to employ the best faculty for research and teaching,” said Dean Lander. “Our education is closely intertwined with our research, so I’m delighted to see our excellence in both teaching and research recognised.”

RSM has been triple-accredited by the three leading international accreditation bodies, EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA, since the late 1990s, and was one of the first schools in the world to achieve this status. RSM has gone through several rounds of re-accreditations since then. In 2023, RSM was re-accredited for a further five years by AACSB, and will undergo its next re-accreditation with EQUIS in 2024. The school also recently hosted the AMBA peer review team, and the results of this review are expected shortly.
