Professor Daan Stam has been appointed as dean of faculty for Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). He officially began the role on 1 January 2023.

As the dean of faculty, Stam will be responsible for guiding academic and strategic leadership for RSM faculty members, including working with the heads of research departments, overseeing appointments, promotions and appraisals, addressing integrity issues, as well as developing school-level faculty policies and learning and development opportunities for faculty members.

New faculty model

Prof. Stam’s priorities will centre around implementing a new faculty model, addressing workload issues and creating a culture of psychological empowerment where people feel free, autonomous and impactful.

Prior to his appointment as dean of faculty, Stam served as the RSM Dean of Engagement. In the coming weeks, the RSM Executive Board and the heads of departments will be exploring how to ensure the continuity of activities in that area, both in the short term and longer term.

“As an Executive Board we are confident that Daan will do an excellent job as dean of faculty and are grateful that he agreed to take on this important role for our School.” noted acting RSM Dean Werner Brouwer. “I congratulate Daan on this appointment.”
